What does CSA STand For?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Being a CSA member means being a “farming partner.” Your share is a pledge share the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, early frosts, pests, crop failure) and in return, you'll reap the rewards (bounty from a good season or bounty of specific crop) involved in farming, connecting with the land, and knowing where your food is coming from.
Why Work with Multiple Growers?
Sprout uses our skills in aggregation and distribution to build the capacity of growers to meet local demand. This means, you get the benefit of a one-stop-shop and they get larger, more consistent orders.
Sprout creates contingency plans when the season doesn't work out as planned. Our partnering farms use growing techniques that try to protect the harvest such as growing a wide variety of crops that thrive in different conditions, cover cropping, crop rotation, irrigation, etc. Sprout also strives for long-lasting and trusting relationships between farmers and communities.
